Preschool Read-to-me Program

PROGRAMS

Come enjoy special performers who will inspire your children to run into summer reading!  Children signed up for the Read-to-Me Program are encouraged to attend special events at the Library.  These programs will last about 35 minutes and take place in the Program Room on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

 PRIZES

When you register for the Read-to-Me Program, you will be given a sheet of tickets.  Beginning on June 12th, you will be able to redeem one ticket each week for a prize when you come to the library.

JULY 19th - SHAKE, RATTLE, AND ROLL

Shake, rattle, and roll with this interactive show, learning first-hand about the history of rock-n-roll music.

JULY 26th - MICHIGAN FARM ANIMALS

Celebrate healthy living with “Made in Michigan” Farm and Agriculture Program, with live farms animals, too!

 

Summer Reading Program- Elementary-Age Reader

Are you an elementary school-aged student reading on your own?  Join us for “Build a Better World” and take home great prizes!

 How?  Register at the Library, beginning Monday, June 5th, and keep track of the books you read from the Belleville Area District Library on your Reading Record.  You will be responsible for adding the titles of books you’ve read to your Record, which will be available under your registered name and kept at the Library. Start collecting Prizes on June 12thYou get prizes for reading 10, 20, and 30 books (you may opt to count each title as one book or you may count every fifty pages you read as a “book” so don’t shy away from trying a longer book).

Elementary-Age Reader Programs are Tuesday Mornings at 11:00 a.m.

JUNE 20th - Comedy Magic with Gordon Russ - A magical performance providing hilarious entertainment for all ages with a side-splitting magic show featuring the world-famous Gordon Russ.

JUNE 27th - Joel Tacey’s Book Builder Comedy Show – Gear Up for Reading with Joel as he brings books to life in this hilarious comedy and magic show which will have both kids and grown-ups laughing out loud and crazy about reading.

JULY 4th - INDEPENDENCE DAY - Library Closed

JULY 11th - Baffling Bill & Gus the Bunny - The Baffling Bill Magic Show presented by this nationally recognized magician will amaze all with professional illusion and comedy.

JULY 18th - Sara Johnson’s Didgeridoo Program - Explore the music and art of Aboriginal Australia with Michigan’s own Sara Johnson.

JULY 25th - Gratitude Steel Band -  Get happy and dance to the live steel pan music of the Gratitude Steel Band!  Prizes will be raffled off, including the Grand Prize Drawing — 2 Cedar Point tickets!

Teen Summer Reading Program

Registration and sign-up for programs will begin in person on June 5th.

Participants must have completed the fifth grade.

Ok, I’ve registered.  Now what do I do?

1) Sign up for the programs you are interested in attending.  (See next panel for descriptions.)

2) Check out books from the Belleville Area District Library.

3) READ!*

4) Record the books you have read on your Reading Record. Begin collecting prizes on June 12th.

5) Take your Reading Record back to the library, choose a prize, and ask a staff member to stamp your reading record.  After you have read EACH book, you are eligible for a free prize OR book of your choice.

6) Repeat Steps 1-5 until you’ve filled up your Reading Record. 

7) Keep reading, and don’t lose your Reading Record because you only get one!  You need it to collect prizes.

8) The Grand Prize Giveaway of two Cedar Point Tickets will take place at the last program on July 24th.

 *Remember:  If you are reading a book with more than 500 pages, it counts as

     two books.

 

Teen Programs

Program space is limited —only teens who have signed up on the  “PROGRAM SIGN-UP SHEETS” will be permitted to enter!

Ring of Steel will present a unique, instructional performance of stunt action, swordplay, and acrobatics while they demonstrate their professional-action safety tips.

EXTREME DUCT TAPE WORKSHOP

MAKE and TAKE your own Duct Tape Creations, like bracelets, bookmarks, wallets, purses, or flower/arrow pens. All supplies provided and door prizes will be given out at this fun program!
